The Spartanburg County Public Libraries is one of 65 libraries across the nation to participate in the upcoming project, Let’s Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War.  This program is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and is offered in partnership with the American Library Association (ALA).

As a participant, the Libraries will receive 25 copies of March by Geraldine Brooks and Crossroads of Freedom: Antietam by James McPherson, 50 copies of a Civil War anthology edited by Edward L. Ayers, as well as a $3,000 grant from NEH to support program-related expenses, promotional materials, and training for the library project director at a national workshop.

Dr. Andrew Myers, associate professor of history at the University of South Carolina Upstate, will serve as the project scholar and will moderate the discussion sessions. Let’s Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War is expected to be hosted March through May 2012.
