Dr. Vincent A. Connors, professor of biology at the University of South Carolina Upstate, has been named editor of “Comparative Parasitology,” an international and peer-reviewed journal of research dedicated to parasitology.

One of the leading journals in the field of parasitology, “Comparative Parasitology” serves as a venue for the publication and dissemination of information on the classification, pathology, evolution, and ecology of primarily non-human parasites and parasitic diseases.

As editor of this biannual journal, Connors oversees the Editorial Board staff and is responsible for determining if articles submitted for publication meet the scope of the journal. Once articles are selected, Connors coordinates a committee of specialists in the field who review the articles for their scientific content and merit. If an article is then accepted for publication, Connors works with the authors to ensure the article’s adherence to required criteria for publishing.

“The journal serves a worldwide community of scientists studying the parasites and emerging pathogens of animals by providing a repository of information on their identification, distribution ecology, pathology, and evolution,” said Connors. “I have served as a reviewer for a number of journals in the field, as well as authored or co-authored numerous articles and look forward to serving as editor of this recognized journal.”
