Dr. Calvin Odhiambo, along with Dr. David Marlow and their student Wendy Zeng, won Best Paper in the Social Sciences and Best Presentation in the Social Sciences, for “Sexism in Abusive Language in Mandarin Chinese” at the Eighth Annual Upstate Research Symposium, held in Spartanburg, S.C. on April 20, 2012. Jinwen (Wendy) Zeng is an international student. Dr. Marlow teaches linguistics and Dr. Odhiambo teaches sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of South Carolina Upstate.
