It is the things we don’t see that often have potential for the greatest harm, but thanks to the work of Dr. Vince A. Connors, professor of biology, that prospect is held in check. His study of important human parasites has produced significant results leading to his participation in worldwide lectures and seminars in the United States and Europe, including an invitation to speak at the prestigious Pasteur Institute in Lille, France.

His research of parasites and parasitic diseases is instrumental in developing stronger understandings of biological forces that shape our lives and are keys to keeping USC Upstate ahead of the curve.

Recognizing that accounting is the sum of all parts, Dr. Elizabeth Cole with the George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics added key elements to the program by establishing the bi-annual “Meet The Accountants” event for students. In addition, she is working with the Accounting Club to develop a stronger career focus and interaction with local practitioners.

This type of effort helps keep USC Upstate ahead of the curve in providing students the advantage they need for success.

A head for numbers and a passion for education add up to 30 years of impacting the world of academia – literally. Dr. Linda Gilbert Saucier, professor of mathematics, has published more than 37 mathematics textbooks/manuals that have been used in universities across the United States, Canada, Europe and China.

Her books, Elements of Modern Algebra, College Algebra, College Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Matrix Theory, among many others, continue to influence students’ course of study.

These accomplishments and commitment to purpose are qualities that keep USC Upstate ahead of the curve in providing students the advantage they need to succeed.
