They train to teach. They teach because they care. They care because they believe in making the world a better place. And Dr. Jucy Beck, director of the teacher education programs for USC Upstate Greenville Campus, goes one step further…she is serving as president of the South Carolina Association of Teachers and Educators (SCATE).

This organization is comprised of teacher educators from across the state and provides leadership capacity for pre-service, graduate, and in-service teacher education issues. It is committed solely to the improvement of teacher education.

Dr. Beck’s participation beyond the classroom and willingness to take a leadership role in organizations like SCATE help USC Upstate stay ahead of the curve as it prepares tomorrow’s educators.
